Screen diva, Stella Damascus-Aboderin, has finally put on hold her acting career to focus on her long time ambition- music. The super star actress is currently in the studio working on her debut album which will be released before the end of the year. She intends to keep it low at the moment, but still opened- up when we met her at Klints Studios in Surulere, Lagos, on Tuesday February 3.

The first single she is working on is entitled ‘Love Me Quick’ and it is going to hit the airwaves by next week. The original version of the song was recorded in 2006 but the quest for perfection made her enter the studio again to re-work on the song.

Speaking on the new project and why it has taken her so long to come up with the album, she explained that she has been very busy with other things. “Acting has been taken most of my time and it barely gives me time to concentrate on my music. I intentionally took time out of acting so that I can wrap up work on this album and at the same give space for the upcoming actresses. Aside that, me and my band perform in different occasions which involves lots of rehearsals”.

On the new album, she said it’s going to contain between six and eight tracks. “The album will be made up of about six or eight tracks and am presently working with Sammie Okposo on the production of the album. I am working with him actually because he understands my kind of music very well. I have been working with him for the past ten years and he tends to understand my voice better”.

The mother of two and the widow of Jaiye Aboderin described her kind of music as inspirational and a little bit of gospel. She is not attached to any label at the moment, but hinted us that two record labels are already talking to her about releasing the album.

Former X-Appeal member, Lexzy Doo, who left the country for U.K about two years back, is set to return. Having been away for a very a long time, Lexzy will pick up his career from where he stopped. Chatting with me from his base in the U.K, he said he has a brand new single entitled Omo Ele, and the video is currently showing on U Tube, a website that accommodates videos from different acts all over the world.

Admitting that the game has really changed back home, he said he is now more matured musically and as such, Nigerians should expect a brand new Lexzy Doo. Before he left the country, he had an album which included the hit single ‘Ske Ske’ that held the airwaves hostage for a long time. The song was produced by OJB Jezreel. The group X-Appeal, was then made up of Jazzman Olofin and Lexzy Doo before the duo broke up and went solo.
