Telecoms giant, Globacom’s interest in picking their ambassadors from the entertainment industry seems to be increasing by the day. Aside signing different music stars late last year with over N300 million, the company has taken it to another level this week by signing 10 movie stars to the tune of N500 million.
The lucky ones are Jim Iyke, Ramsey Nouah, Rita Dominic, Nonso Diobu, Uche Jumbo and Monalisa Chinda. Others are wavemaking Funke Akindele, Desmond Elliot, Mike Izurunonye and Chioma Akpotha. We gathered that the company is paying each of the movie stars N50 million to be the company’s ambassadors
for the next two years.
Just like the way the ambassadors from the music industry were chosen, names of several different Nollywood stars were drawn up before the company finally settled for 10 out of them. We were reliably informed that the likes of Emeka Ike, Genevieve Nnaji and Omotola Jalade-Ekehinde were formerly on the list before they were later dropped for reasons best known to the company.
In the way the music star ambassadors are being paid for any event where they are invited to function including the presentation of gifts to the winners of the on-going Win & Rule promo, the new Nollywood ambassadors will also enjoy the same privileges. Globacom will be paying them extras for any appearance made on behalf of the company
